Hummingbird update

Just a quickie from me today.

I'm sitting here dripping in sweat from the heat and humidity, and my bun-in-the-oven is trying to kick me off the computer...from the inside. Cheeky little monkey is going to be a footballer, me thinks. Or a karate champion?

Anyway, I digress. Here are my latest happy snaps of the hummingbird collar in progress. It is still a long way off being finished, but I'm making progress as quickly as a fat, sweaty pregnant woman can. The backing is done and I've started work on the fringe.

And the backing...I was rather pleased to find this fabric with it's blue swirls being so similar to the swirls on the front of the collar. I think it works. Not so sure about the royal blue edging beads, but can I be bothered re-doing them? Nah. I figure they'll grow on me. Maybe...

Waddya think?

  3. Thank you so much Kerrie! Hummingbirds are such cheerful little creatures, aren't they :) I really appreciate your comments, thanks!

Awww schux, Julz! You're far too kind...on both accounts :P LOL I hope the heat isn't too extreme over your way. I think we're about due for the Vic/SA heatwave later this week!

  4. WOW!! Your work is just SO incredible Belinda!! I can't believe how gorgeous this piece is going to be!! (pssst...you should publish) hmmm? what? I didn't say anything! *giggle*

Ah, you're such a trooper for hanging in there with the little bundle of kicking joy and the heat. Although, it's not like you have much of a choice but kudos to you just the same (makin' more lemonade *winks*). Hope you get a break in the weather and enjoy more beading time. hugs♥

  5. Oh wow Belinda.. this piece is coming along beautifully... I adore the fabric you have used as the backing. Do you choose fabrics that have more of a calico thickness to them rather than a softer cotton?

  6. LOL Sharon! You're too sweet...and a litle cheeky :-P The progress on this UFO is going slower than I'd hoped. With the hot temperatures every day, I'm spending more time in the pool with my daughter than I am beading LOL I hope you're keeping well and busy as always! :D

Thanks Karyn! :) All of the fabric backings I have used to date have been 100% cotton and are quite thin. I use a layer of felt or felt & cardboard between the backing and the foundation to add extra padding and stiffness :)
