My creative space...

...has been taken over by a small army of silver pebbles...

These wonderful little baubles will be adorning a custom ring I am working on for a very special lady...

...a compliment to this beautiful labradorite...

How gorgeous is that rainbow flash!
This ring began with a sketch...

...then slowly began coming to life...

...the ring band is wide and textured...

...ready for soldering...

...starting to take shape...

Now, it's back to the workbench...

those little pebbles are waiting for me :-)

My creative space...

...is all about new ideas and designs this week...

I'm not really very good at drawing...

...but I try!

The hard part is translating my wonky sketches into wearable jewellery.

Thank the technology gods for Adobe Illustrator!

I can re-create my less-than-symmetrical sketches into a perfect template...

...then cut and paste it to metal sheet, and saw it out...

Have I mentioned how much I love sawing?

I find it strangely relaxing...

Nothing like having a little company whilst sawing...

...perhaps an apprentice in the making! ;-)

My creative space...

…is actually my husband's creative space…

Anthony insists he doesn't have a creative bone in his body…

…and yet, he can magically transform a pile of wood…

…into a new creative space just for me…

...with a few tools...

…in a few short hours...

My own little space for playing with metal and fire…

…made with love...

My creative space...

...is a riot of colour!

But then again, when ISN'T my creative space a riot of colour ;-)

In between cleaning, unpacking, and settling in to our new place in Melbourne,

I've managed to spend a few (exceedingly) late nights playing with these Moroccan motifs...

I love the versatility of this simple little design...

Eventually, it will be earrings...

Pendants...

And even rings...

I must be trying to wash away the Melbourne grey with all this colour.

How I am missing the West Australian sunshine!  I had forgotten how grey and cloudy Melbourne can be...day, after day, after day...

At least the sun decided to make an appearance today so I could take some photos!

~*~

My silver and tools are still packed away in boxes.  I am itching to start up the torch and do some soldering!

This chunky beaded rope is just calling out to be finished off with some custom made silver bead caps...

My creative space...

I feel as though I am being pulled in so many different directions at the moment...creatively speaking.

Sometimes I wish my Muse would switch off, or at least take a nap for a little while.

I'm working away on my collections, but my Muse also yearns to create something epic, something laborious and time-consuming...

...and also get back to bead embroidery...

...and also crank up the torch and try some silversmithing...

...and...

...and...

...and...

Do you ever have so many things that you want to do but don't know where to start?

*le sigh*

I put this down to the fact that our big move from Perth to Melbourne (a mere 3,000kms, give or take) is only about six weeks away, so I'm a bundle of nervous energy right now...desperately trying to cram in as much creating as possibly before my entire studio is packed away into uninspiring brown boxes.

*le sigh*

Rant over, thanks for listening.  You're the best :-D

Here's a little something I've been working on for my *Moroccan Odyssey* collection...

It has been dark and rainy all day today, so I had to take these hideous photos with my daylight lamp...blerk!

The gemstones are smoky quartz and the MOST beautiful AAA grade yellow chalcedony...

...it's like a little ray of sunshine... *le sigh*

My creative space...

I love it when a new design comes together with ease.

It doesn't happen often, I usually produce many prototypes before a good design is realised.

So imagine my delight the other night, when this romantic, vintage-inspired pendant came together in just over an hour...

Despite it's size (the pendant is almost 4cm x 4cm), it is amazingly lightweight thanks to the dainty Vintaj brass filigree component in the centre...

This design is yet to be named...I'd love to hear your suggestions!

And while you're in a commenting mood, I'd love to hear what you think of my photos!  (*click on the photos for an enlarged image*)  I have been playing around with props, and trying to inject a mood into my photos.

The props in these photos are a vintage beaded purse from my Mum, and a scrap of vintage beaded fabric that my 88 year old Grandpa gave me.  He isn't sure of the origin exactly, but thinks it may have come from a very, very old wedding dress.  Nan had it sitting in her stash of fabric for years, and Grandpa only rediscovered it a few months ago and thought I should have it.  It is a beautifully delicate treasure, and I think it tells a wonderful story!

My creative space...

It is well and truly Winter here.

There is a chill and a crispness in the air.  The trees everywhere are bare, the ground covered in sepia-toned leaves.  My two year old daughter likes to dance over and around the leaves, fluttering like a fairy...I can't help but stomp on them to hear that wonderful *crunch* when we go for our walks around the neighbourhood.

Whilst I enjoy the little treasures that this season has to offer,  I desperately miss the days of endless sunshine!  I have been craving warmth and sunshine and flowers...

Alas, my beaded flowers will have to suffice until Spring blooms again...

I have been working on some petite lilac blossoms...

...which will soon find their way into a petite necklace...

...with some petite gemstones...

They measure 3cm from petal tip to petal tip, and whilst I hate repetition, these little blooms are just begging to be clustered together en masse.

Our Creative Space...

Fire...

...plus wire...

...equals practice making ball headpins...

More practice required...obviously!

Here's hoping hubby doesn't notice the holes in his workbench caused by molten copper... *snicker*

I wasn't the only one getting creative in this household today...

Letting a two year old loose with felt tip markers is usually recipe for disaster...unless you have a blank wooden aeroplane to decorate...and LOTS of newspaper...

I think India ended up with more colour on her hands than on the plane...but thankfully no carpet or lounges were harmed during the making of this masterpiece... *phew*

My creative space...

I missed last week's 'My Creative Space...' because I was busy turning 30...

...and playing around with flashy new sewing machine that ever-thoughtful husband bought for said 30th birthday...

...and finishing my 'Idylle' necklace which you may remember from previous creative space posts...

...but now that those tasks are done and dusted, I can get back to my daffodil...

...it's coming along nicely...and it will soon be transformed into a beautiful, delicate necklace...

...if things go accordingly to plan!

...and if my supplies would hurry up already and arrive in my letter box!

*stomps off to stalk the postman...*
